Located at 1501 Jacksonville Drive in Henderson, Texas, the building that now houses Kids R Here Learning Academy has been part of the community since 1960. Over the years, it has had several roles in Henderson’s history. Later purchased by a local church in an effort to better the community.

In later years, the building became home to Johnny’s Sporting Goods, where generations of Henderson youth came to buy equipment for the sports they loved. After the store closed, the building sat vacant until March 2007, when Southwood Academy opened an early childcare center at this location.

In May 2025, Southwood Academy was purchased by Kids R Here Learning Academy, and the building continues its role as a place dedicated to children and families.

At Kids R Here Learning Academy, we are committed to giving every child the best start in life. Through hands-on, child-centered learning, we nurture curiosity, creativity, and confidence while helping children develop the skills they need to grow, learn, and succeed. Our goal is to provide a safe, welcoming environment where every child can reach their greatest potential.

With over 22 years of experience in early childhood education, I have dedicated my career to nurturing and guiding young children during their most important developmental years. I began my journey as a three-year-old teacher, later becoming a preschool teacher, and for the past nine years, I have proudly served as a Child Care Director.

I studied Early Childhood Education at Kilgore College, where I developed a strong foundation in child development and best practices in early learning. Throughout my career, my goal has always remained the same: to create a safe, loving environment where children not only learn and grow academically, but feel valued, secure, and deeply cared for.

Born in Houston, Texas, and raised between Henderson and Houston, I carry strong family values into everything I do. I have been happily married for 28 years and am the proud mother of a 20-year-old daughter and a 27-year-old son. I am also a proud grandmother to two wonderful grandsons who are truly the light of my life.

While I know this profession may never make me rich financially, I feel incredibly blessed every time I see a child accomplish something new. There is no greater reward than watching children grow in confidence, curiosity, and joy.
